The biggie. This has been the toughest of all assignments.

I can’t say that I really enjoyed this assignment over any other assignment on this course as most of my time was spent managing. There was very little design or building work involved for me and as a result I faltered towards the end of this assignment.

I was also responsible for setting tasks, not only for myself, but two others which I found to be quite tiresome and hard to keep track of.

It definitely helped shape my vision of what I want to do in future projects and will enable me to judge other peoples abilities a face value quicker.

There was a lot of pre-work involved in this assignment mainly creating business documents to keep everything above board and lawful – a fact in any industry which sadly can’t be avoided – but does cover both company and client in any unforeseen eventualities.

I have found working as the project manager to be one of the hardest aspects of this entire two year course.

I think being more assertive with people in my group could have been beneficial in the long run.

I would have been more comfortable teaching a class rather than heading a group alongside my peers.

Personally I found this assignment quite challenging and I am only now starting to understand the full potential of WordPress.

This has tied in with my SMLP and I will always be developing my understanding with using this user interface and structure.

It has also opened my thought process in PHP code interacts with other technologies and functions in producing HTML.

Working with a new technology always takes time to master and I feel that I still have not mastered the full potential of WordPress.

What it has done for me is open the door into the world of Content Management Systems (CMS) and their potential use in my future projects.

A12 – The Big Easy

Talking Points

• Being creative;
• Further developing vector graphic skills;
• Not to get attached to any particular design.

Probably one of the best assignments on the course.

There was a lot of ground work to cover here and being creative on cue is harder than it sounds.

Maybe I didn’t choose the right design for the final product but I had good time problem solving the use of Illustrator to house my final design.

Designing for a mystery object has taught me be a bit more looser when trying to develop my ideas.

Because there were no restrictions on my output I wasn’t always able to think clearly in what I was doing.

I realise that this was a skill to be mastered and once I had appreciated that were no restrictions the process of design became easier.

A11 – Word Up

Talking Points

• Implementing new technologies;
• Being able to design for any eventuality.

One of the more fun assignments although I did look lie a weirdo taking pictures of my bin.

Running alongside A8 was very beneficial as I was able to put into practice my Self Managed Learning Plan immediately and had to implement new technologies such as a GoogleMap, twitterAPI and feedback form.

Still developing my skills in using white-space effectively.

Learning a new technology has also proved quite stressful and I am only now beginning to understand how to use it to its full potential now that the assignment has passed.

The building of sites is becoming second nature and the process behind it takes less time and effort with each new assignment.

One of the hardest of the all the assignments down to the fact that I exacerbated my efforts with a high work load.

Setting realistic goals is always a priority now and this assignment forced me to evaluate my own abilities and limitations.

It’s not the marking as such but being able to decipher the critical thinking behind my decisions.
